Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1525–1569) was a painter of the Dutch and Flemish Renaissance painting, born in Breda. He worked in Antwerp and Italy. He trained under Pieter Coecke van Aelst. He died in Brussels in 1569. Among his documented works are Two Chained Monkeys, Dull Gret and The Peasant Dance.
