Saint Rita of Cascia by Catholic Art Studio: what it depicts
Saint Rita of Cascia (St. Rita)
Who they were
Married young to a violent man whom she eventually converted, widowed by a vendetta, and refused by the convent three times before it took her. In old age a thorn from a crucifix pierced her forehead, and she bore the wound for most of the years she had left.
Why people ask for them
Patron of impossible causes, difficult marriages, and abuse victims. Feast day May 22. Died 1457.
About this drawing
One of the Charcoal Saints: forty-eight portraits in charcoal and white chalk, drawn to one sheet so that any two hang together. The likeness comes from the saint’s traditional iconography. An image model drew it; a person chose it.
Who Made It
Created by Catholic Art Studio. Drawn in 2026. Charcoal on toned paper.
Studio original — drawn with an image model to our brief, chosen by hand.
