Pietro da Cortona (1596–1669) was a painter of the Baroque, born in Cortona. He worked in Florence and Rome. He trained under Andrea Commodi and Baccio Ciarpi. He died in Rome in 1669. Among his documented works are Caesar Giving Cleopatra the Throne of Egypt, Romulus and Remus Sheltered by Faustulus and Allegory of Divine Providence and Barberini Power.
