Liberale da Verona

Liberale da Verona (c. 1445 – 1527/29) was born in Verona, where he was recorded in 1455 at the age of ten. He trained under the painter Vincenzo di Stefano, though his work shows the stronger influence of Andrea Mantegna and Jacopo Bellini. He was active mainly in Verona, where he painted an Adoration of the Magi for the cathedral and another for the bishop's chapel, as well as work for the church of San Bernardino. He was also an illuminator of books, and in the 1470s he was in Tuscany, at Siena and at the abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore. His pupils included Giovanni Francesco Caroto and Francesco Torbido. He dictated his will in Verona in 1527 and was recorded as dead by 1529. Here: The Dead Christ Supported by Mourning Angels.
