Jules Bastien-Lepage (1848–1884) was a painter of the potato, born in Damvillers. He trained under Alexandre Cabanel. He died in 17th arrondissement of Paris in 1884. Among his documented works are Adolphe Franck (1810-1893), French philosopher, Émile Bastien-Lepage and The Beggar.
