Jean Jouvenet (1644–1717) stands as one of the most prominent French Baroque painters of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. Born in Rouen into a family of artists, Jouvenet’s early talent led him to Paris, where he would ultimately become a member and later a professor at the prestigious Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture. His artistic career was closely aligned with religious commissions, notably for churches and royal institutions, showcasing his mastery in large-scale compositions and dynamic figuration.
