Benjamin West (1738–1820) was a painter of the Neoclassicism, born in Springfield Township. He worked in New York City, Rome and London. He died in London in 1820. Among his documented works are Erasistratus the Physician Discovers the Love of Antiochus for Stratonice and The Death of General Wolfe.
