Antonio Bellucci (1654–1726) was born and died in Pieve di Soligo in the Veneto, and served as a soldier before becoming a painter. He trained with Domenico Difnico in Šibenik, in Venetian Dalmatia, and was working in Venice by 1675, where he painted for the churches of San Pietro di Castello and the Ascension.
He was one of many Venetian-trained painters of his time, among them Ricci, Tiepolo and Amigoni, who sought commissions north of Italy, supplying grand-manner frescoes for palaces. He lived in Vienna for several years around 1700, painting allegorical ceilings at the Palais Liechtenstein; worked in Düsseldorf from 1705 to 1716 for Johann Wilhelm, Elector Palatine; and from 1716 to 1722 in England for the Duke of Chandos, including ceilings at Cannons. Antonio Balestra was among his pupils. He returned home late in life.
